Understanding those who refuse to pretend everything is fine

Across the world, some people are making decisions that profoundly transform the way they live and act.

They leave well-defined career paths, create new initiatives, join struggles, and invent new ways of working, living, producing, or cooperating.

They no longer want to act as if nothing is happening in the face of the ecological, social, and political crises of our time.

Kosmogonia was born from a simple question:

What drives some people to change direction and commit deeply?

And above all: What enables them to sustain this commitment over time?

A field-based research

For several years, we have been meeting people engaged in different countries.

Entrepreneurs, activists, researchers, farmers, artists, NGO leaders, and engaged citizens.

Through in-depth interviews and field research, we seek to understand:

  • what triggers these life changes

  • how people reinvent their place in the world

  • what forms of engagement are emerging today

  • and what conditions allow people to sustain their commitment without burning out

This research has already led to hundreds of hours of interviews, several years of exploration, and the development of models to better understand these human dynamics.

An open lab

Kosmogonia is an independent lab.

But this work is not meant to remain confined to reports or publications.

We transform this research into: workshops, conferences, educational formats, artistic works and narratives, spaces for dialogue.

The goal is simple: to better understand engagement dynamics in order to inform action.

Over time, one thing has become clear : People engaged in different countries often face similar challenges.

  • How can one stay engaged over time?

  • How can burnout be avoided?

  • How can an initiative evolve?

  • How can one act within a specific political or cultural context?

  • How can we learn from experiences elsewhere?

Kosmogonia gradually brings together those who want to share these experiences and learn from one another.

A worldwide community

We aim to create a space where people engaged across different countries can:

  • meet

  • exchange experiences

  • support one another

  • understand how things work elsewhere

  • and learn from each other

What we aim to build

Kosmogonia is intended to become:

an independent lab
and an international community

dedicated to understanding and sharing contemporary forms of engagement.

A space where those who refuse to pretend everything is fine can: recognize one another, meet, reflect together and continue to act.

Join Kosmogonia

Kosmogonia is open to anyone who identifies with this approach.

Researchers, engaged citizens, entrepreneurs, artists, activists, members of associations or collectives.

If you would like to: share your experience, contribute to this research, meet other engaged people around the world or simply follow this work.
